Blogosphere influences the noosphere

From Wikipedia’s entry on the noosphere.

The noosphere can be seen as the “sphere of human thought” being derived from the Greek νους (“nous“) meaning “mind” in the style of “atmosphere” and “biosphere“. In the original theory of Vernadsky, the noosphere is the third in a succession of phases of development of the Earth, after the geosphere (inanimate matter) and the biosphere (biological life). Just as the emergence of life fundamentally transformed the geosphere, the emergence of human cognition fundamentally transforms the biosphere. In contrast to the conceptions of the Gaia theorists, or the promoters of cyberspace, Vernadsky’s noosphere is not something that is just now coming into being, or will emerge in the future; it arrived with the birth of the first cognitive human being, and is manifested throughout the geosphere and biosphere in the form of human intervention, which principally takes the form of physical economic development of the planet.

The word is also sometimes used to refer to a transhuman consciousness emerging from the interactions of human minds. This is the view proposed by the theologian Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, who added that the noosphere is evolving towards an ever greater integration, culminating in the Omega Point—which he saw as the ultimate goal of history.

We have already defined the blogosphere.

Through the blogosphere, we can influence the noosphere, the whole of human thought, the quantum wave front of human consciousness at an instant. People have stopped trusting mainstream media. And with the advent of IPTV and modern forms of digital media, traditional TV and radio is becoming a thing of the past. There are people who do not own TVs or radios, but who do have computers, iPods and digital media are are still more connected than the people in front of their TVs.

In Canada, 50% of the people connected online are using broadband connections. The world is becoming connected at an alarming rate. Video blogs are becoming the new TV channels of yesteryear. Just like blogs are starting to replace some print media, video blogs are starting to take the place of TV channels. With the richness of the blogosphere, a lot of content is generated. There are millions of blogs generated every month, and the blogosphere doubles in size every 6 months. At the latest count, Technorati is tracking 48.7 million blogs. And those are only the ones that are referenced by them.

The noosphere is what companies want to reach. The noosphere is getting easier to reach and influence through the blogosphere and the modern tools and techniques of web 2.0. And in fact, will be even more important with the advent of Semantic Web or web 3.0.
